Organic Inspired Art

The artist who made the works below, Ellen, tagged this set of images with “organic art” but offered no further information. So after a couple of people asked me on Google+, I thought I’d write to the artist to find out more about what these images portrayed, here is her interesting answer:

Well, believe it or not, these are 3D fractals. They are generated by a function that creates a fractal, with various transforms applied. A scientist recently asked me for some files to print for the window of their office since they looked a lot like bone structures and such. A lot of real organic shapes are molded by mathematical patterns of growth or pressure, so I guess that’s why these look so real. I put some of my Mandelbulb 3d parameters and info on where to get the software here if you want to experiment:
