
The Global Peace Index finds that violence has increased over past 7 years. This global survey calculates the social and economic costs of crime and war for 162 nations. Global violence has cost $179 billion since 2012. Syria is ranked as the least peaceful country in the world. Brazil and South Sudan have experienced the highest drop in peacefulness.The survey estimates that Qatar, Zambia, Haiti, Argentina and Chad have the highest risk of increased violence over the next two years
The top 10 most peaceful countries are Iceland, Denmark, Austria, New Zealand, Switzerland, Finland, Canada, Japan, Belguim and Norway. Australia ranks as 15th most peaceful country, but we are worse off than we were 7 years ago due to increased weapons imports and heavy weapons capability.
