Artist Pamela Mei-Leng See was born in Brisbane to Chinese Malaysian parents. This piece is part of a set of three sheep (the others blue and green), titled, “Electric Sheep,” after the Philip K Dick science fiction novel, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.” The artwork pays “homage to the tradition of applying papercut designs to lanterns that commenced during the Song Dynasty (960-1279)… The sheep has rounded horns that are both consistent with the “Year of the Ram” and the favoured breed of sheep in Australia: The Merino. The zodiac symbol of the Sheep can be characterised as tasteful, warm and intuitive. The sensitive Sheep offers a quiet life of creativity and compassion.”
