Lunar New Year 2019 – The Snake

A woman and man are seen in the foreground from behind, shading their eyes as they lean back to take in the massive snake in the oveseas passanger terminal at The Rocks, Sydney. The snake's body is textured yellow, with a massive red tongue extended and the Chinese characters for "happiness" written across its eyes, to signify good fortune in the coming year

Artists amigo and amigo, co-founded by Simone Chua and Renzo B Larriviere, are Sydney-based lighting designers. “Inspired by the traditional art of Chinese kite-making, this golden snake flies above the public, representing prosperity and wealth… The zodiac symbol of the Snake can be characterised as private, wise and intuitive. The enigmatic snake has no qualms about putting itself first.”
