Lunar New Year 2019 – The Ox

A white and red stripped ox has its head down and seems to be charging forward atop a grey and black marble set of waves, representing the scholar's rock. People walk in the middle background, against the sculpture three times their size, in a book in front of other buildings

The artist Laurens Tan lives and works in Wollongong, Beijing and Las Vegas. “Two cyphers in Chinese heritage, the Ox and the Scholar Rock emanate as one in this symbolic ‘surge of strength and knowledge.’ Loyal, reliable and strong, the determined Ox is always diligent.”
